2021 Fur SaleDue to many unforeseen challenges, regulations, risks, and liability issues pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m saddened to report that our 2021 Fur Sale has been cancelled. With the fur sale being cancelled, you will need to schedule an appointment (on your own) with the DWR to get your bobcats tagged and your coyotes bountied. Not being able to have our 2020 Convention in September and now the Fur Sale, was not something I ever thought would happen. I encourage everyone to please keep your membership current. When you receive a notice from the Trappers Post, your magazine subscription, as well as your UTA membership, is expiring. Please send in your renewal notice and money to renew. I would also encourage everyone to join the National Trappers Association; they’re a great organization, as well. Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to the day when we have weathered this storm and can once again meet for our regular events.
2020 UTA Convention
Due to the ongoing impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, our convention in September
has been cancelled. The health and safety of our members and the public is our
primary concern. We feel it is the best decision at this time, so we do not put
anyone at risk. We are planning on meeting outside at the Juab County Fair Grounds,
September 12th from 4:00-5:00 pm for a membership meeting, to draw for the raffle
prizes and announce the recipients of the UTA awards and scholarships. If you have
tickets you would like to turn in that day or to be present for the raffle drawing
and awards, you are welcome to come and be with us. Be mindful that all state,
local, and Health Department regulations will apply.
Every year we rely on our convention as our major fund raising event. Not being able to have it this year will significantly impact our ability to raise funds. We are asking all members to please support our raffles by either selling or buying the raffle tickets that are enclosed with this letter to help keep the UTA strong. You can mail the tickets, as well as the award nominees, to Jennifer Hunt.
The UTA raffle prizes will be as follows:
Weatherby Vanguard 6.5 CRD Black Synthetic Stock
Mossberg Patriot 7mm-08, Walnut Stock
Remington 870 Express 12 Gauge, Walnut Stock
Ruger 10/22, Hardwood Stock
We are offering some very nice prizes for the top 3 raffle ticket sellers.
1st Place: Ruger 10/22, Hardwood Stock
2nd Place: Ruger 10/22, Black Synthetic Stock
3rd Place: Ruger 10/22, Grey Synthetic Stock
Also, for those who sell $300.00 worth of raffle tickets or more and you are not one of the top 3 ticket sellers, you will be entered for 1 chance to win a Ruger 10/22, Grey Synthetic Stock. We will announce the ticket seller winners on September 12th. If you would like more tickets to sell, please contact Jennifer Hunt.
We are doing the scholarship gun raffle again this year. There will be a maximum of 125 tickets sold. In the past, the donated fur we received at the fur sale have been earmarked for the scholarships. Proceeds from the donated fur covers only a portion of the 2 scholarships awarded every year. The scholarship raffle tickets are a great way for the UTA members to help fund the scholarship program. Those applicants interested in our Scholarship Program please refer to our website at utahtrappers.org for more information.
The Scholarship gun raffle will be:
Henry Golden Boy .22 LR Lever action with Octagon Barrel
Enclosed you will find a ballot. If you would like to nominate someone for the Hall of Fame, Trapper of the Year, Lady Trapper of the Year, or Junior Trapper of the Year, please send your nominations to Jennifer Hunt.
We want to let everyone know that the UTA will no longer be sponsoring the annual Youth Coyote Hunt. The organizers of this hunt have chosen to take a different direction with their sponsorship. We’re grateful for the many years that we have been able to host this event and for all the good times and memories we’ve shared. This is a wonderful event and we wish the youth coyote hunters much happiness and success in the future.
We thank each of our members for your continued support!
Your UTA Officers,
Ronnie Hunt, Cody Bassett, Laticia Westwood, Jennifer Hunt, & Chase Brereton
